Weekly Dance Classes
We
teach a variety of Afro-root styles, looking at folkloric Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian dance, as well as traditional African
and Afro-fusion.
Our classes are
fun and high energy. We practice with the drummers so both get to know each other and enjoy the combination of music and moves
in the same environment.
Mondays
- Dance and Drumming performance group
7:30-9pm,
Wrangthorn Church Hall, Hyde Park Terrace (Hyde Park Corner)
This session is for experienced dancers. We will be practicing choreographies as well as learning new material, and
rehearsing for performances.
If you are a beginner,
come to our beginners sessions on Wednesdays.
Wednesdays - Beginners Dance
Session
8-9.30pm The TreeHouse (formerly The Lounge),
Leeds University Union, Lifton Place
This is for
beginners, we encourage everyone interested in dance to come and have a go on a Wednesday. We practice with the drummers,
and from 7-8pm everyone learns and sings songs together.
All classes cost £5. We encourage the dancers also take
part in the singing at no extra price. Singing is an important part of our sessions and Afro-root music. It is a great way
of letting go and enjoying the sound of the group voice.
